These findings suggest possible applications throughout crop production, irrigation and process-water management, produce washing, equipment sanitation and post-harvest handling. That potential is particularly relevant as the agricultural industry responds to recurring produce recalls and foodborne illness outbreaks, including the ongoing multistate investigation involving Cyclospora illnesses linked to recalled iceberg lettuce. While no single technology can eliminate every contamination risk, Lightning Water believes plasma-activated water deserves further study as part of a broader preventive food-safety system.

The applications extend beyond traditional field agriculture.
